Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy

The Aero membership believes that diversity, equality and inclusion must be embedded in the culture and values of our society. It is what we do and how we behave that defines where we stand in relation to equal opportunities. We are committed to ensuring that every member can feel equal, valued and comfortable amongst others, whether it be on the golf course or socially, and in everything we do together and collectively.

Statement of intent

The Aero Golfing Society recognises the importance of affording equality to all members and guests, and we are determined to ensure that every person regardless of disability, gender, sex, age, sexual orientation, marital status, civil partnership status, race, colour, religious convictions, nationality or ethnic origin has a genuine opportunity to participate to their full potential at all levels, in all events and in all roles within the Society.

In implementing this policy the Society will comply with its statutory obligations under the terms of all relevant UK legislation and the guidance from England Golf (the national governing body of amateur golf in England).

Objectives

This policy aims to ensure that:

  • Any person who fulfils the membership criteria has the opportunity, encouragement and freedom to join The Aero Golfing Society.
  • Everyone who participates in Aero events, in whatever capacity, receives fair and equitable treatment.
  • The format and content of all competitions, regulations and activities strives to provide equal opportunities for all, except where specific situations and conditions prevent this (see exemptions).
  • All material prepared, produced and distributed by or on behalf of The Aero promotes a clear image of equality, diversity and inclusion within all events and activities of the society.
  • Clear guidance and communication is given to all members and individuals on its commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • The Aero will take positive action in providing equal opportunities for the inclusion of all people from under-represented groups.

  • The Aero Golfing Society Committee is responsible for ensuring its policy is followed and for dealing with any allegations, complaints or breaches.
  • All members of The Aero and their guests are to respect, support and promote the spirit and intentions of this policy.
  • This policy is available to all members and guests of The Aero on the Society website and will be brought to the attention of new members when they join the Society.
  • No application for membership will be placed at a disadvantage by requirements or conditions which are not already limited by the membership criteria, nor which constitute unfair discrimination.

Compliance

  • The Aero Committee will investigate any reports of alleged breaches of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation.
  • Any complaint or grievance will be dealt with by The Aero Committee in accordance with Section 4 of the Society Rules (Unacceptable behaviour or Breach of Society rules) and handled by the Committee accordingly.

Exemption Clause

The Aero Golfing Society reserves the right to limit competition or events to specific age, gender or disability groups for reasons that promote participation and competition.

Summary
