AG Instone Samuel

Sir Samuel Instone (1878 – 1937) was a shipping and aviation entrepreneur and the founder of the Instone Air Line. The Instone Challenge Cup was first presented by Sir Samuel Instone at the AGS Winter Meeting held at Richmond Golf Club, Sudbrook Park, on Wednesday 28 February 1923. It was won by Air Vice Marshal AV Vyvyan with a net score of 76, playing off a handicap of 12 – this was the only score under 80. The details of the first meeting are shown in the history section. 

The individual round at the Summer Meeting is the Society’s only medal comptetition..
