History
Colonel W. A. Bristow, an aircraft designer for Shorts, was a founding member of the Aero GS, Captain of the Society in 1936 and a long-time supporter. He presented the trophy in 1935 to celebrate the silver jubilee of King George V. The trophy was initially awarded for a singles competition, but since 1963 it has been awarded for a pairs competition trophy except on two occasions.
