The Piercey John Quaich

History
Ray Piercey and David John etched their names into the history of both the Royal Air Force Golfing Society and the Aero Golfing Society through their stalwart support over many years. In their memory and to honour their prominent contribution, their wives, Patsy Piercey and Marjorie John, have graciously presented this Quaich, to be played for on an annual basis.
Although Ray and David were highly individual and amusing personalities, they had much in common. Both had learned to fly in Canada at the beginning of the war and, as their careers developed, they each joined West Byfleet Golf Club where both subsequently became Captain (and, in David’s case, President). They also joined the RAFGS, where Ray became Chairman and David a committee member, and the Aero GS, where David was Captain in 1994. Their support for the RAFGS Scottish tour was legendary and the choice of a Quaich as the trophy is entirely appropriate.
